On May 5, 2026 the Port Joli Community Hall hosted a well attended presentation hosted by Melissa Labrador and members of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Service as part of the Pemsik Conservation Mosaic Project.
The presentation gave a fascinating insight into the underwater world just offshore along our coast through footage of underwater dives. The project was approached through a combination of traditional Mi’kmaq knowledge and Western Science. The initiative revealed a variety of novel discoveries in our ecosystem such as creatures which were previously unknown in our area to a creature which had never before been known to exist in the world!
Refreshments and discussion followed. The evening was enjoyable and educational!”
